Posting bail here

Call (800) 351-8911 with the person's name, the jail, the charge and the bail amount if it is listed. We confirm the booking, take the cosigner's application, and post the bond with the jail. The jail then processes the release, and timing depends on how busy it is that day.

Prefer to start on paper? Apply for bail online and an agent will call you back. If the bail feels out of reach, ask about Bail Today, Pay Later® monthly payments and the 20% discount for veterans and for people with a private attorney.

Find the person

Search the LASD Inmate Information Center with their full legal name and date of birth. Write down the booking number. You will need it for bail, visits, mail and money. New bookings can take a few hours to show up online. Our inmate lookup guide has tips when a search comes up empty.

Visiting

  • LASD lists Men's Central Jail public visiting Thursday through Sunday, 8 AM to 3 PM.
  • All public visits are by appointment and visitor registration is required.
  • New arrivals can be unclassified for a while. LASD says unclassified inmates cannot receive calls or visits until they are housed, which can take two weeks to a month.

What families should know

Men's Central Jail is across Bauchet Street from Twin Towers and next to the Inmate Reception Center. It also houses the attorney room, where LASD allows certain documents to be passed through the window, such as notary services, powers of attorney, property release slips and vehicle releases. Bring a valid government ID.

Inmate trust accounts can hold money for commissary. LASD says deposits and withdrawals for released people are handled at the Inmate Reception Center or at Century Regional Detention Facility.

What to have ready when you call

  • The person's full legal name
  • Which jail they are in
